This art project, based on the polemical “Tropicalism” art movement in Brazil, was developed in partnership with “The Churches Conservation Trust”. The participants were asked to develop their own “utopian space” based in images of places they relate to. Through an introduction about Tropicalism, the participants got in contact with non traditional forms of art, looking in to art works developed by Brazilian artists like Helio Oiticica. As such, they also understood the importance of being experimental in an arts setting and the political characteristic this apply. In a relaxed atmosphere the students employed a variety of media including photography, print and painting.
This project was developed in partnership with the Churches Conservation Trust, and an exhibition of art works was developed from the students from Edlington School. Press release found at: yorkshirepost.co.uk
