Our short documentary “I wasn’t always dressed like this” will be screened in the UK during October. Following the concerns and the national debate over the use of the Veil in public spaces, the producer and director of this documentary Betty Martins will be presenting about the research and development of this project and doing Q&As after the screenings.
Dr Eylem Atakav, course founder of the module “Islam, Women and Media” and academic consultant for the documentary will lead the screening in University of east Anglia in Norwich.
In London, the talk will be followed by postgraduate research student and activist Afroze Zaidi-Jivraj, who researches Islam in the West with a particular interest in the representation of Muslims, including Muslim women.
